Sebastian ~ 18 Month Update

DAILY ROUTINE:

Wake up, get our diaper changed, eat breakfast and get dressed.  Monday, Wed, Thurs & Friday we take Maggie to school then play outside/inside at the house or run errands...unless it is Thursday, on Thursday you have your gymnastics! (On Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday we don't have to take Maggie to school and just go straight to our activities)  Then it is lunch and nap time.  Then we usually watch a show in the afternoon so Mommy can get her chores finished, then dinner, play with Mutti time, bath time and then we start bedtime... which is pjs and brush teeth, nurse, read a couple books, say a prayer then lights out.

FOOD:

You have rejected the baby food pouches and are now just eating what we eat!  You are still nursing, I am slowly weaning you...  for now you still nurse a couples times a day but no longer at night time.  This week we are going to eliminate your morning feeding then you will only be nursing before your nap from time to time and consistently during your bedtime routine.

SLEEP:

Night: Bedtime for you starts around 8 you typically fall asleep by 830 pm and you wake up at about 7 am.  You have been sleeping through the night!!  Well up until last week when we took a trip but we will get back in our groove.

Day: We are starting the one nap transition... some days you take 2 naps one around 11ish and one around 3ish.  But there are more days that you don't take your first nap until around 1 and you typically sleep for an hour and half some days more some days less.

Maggie our BIG Girl!

There were two things keeping Maggie from officially being a big girl.

1. Using pull ups at night
2. Using paci's in her room and to sleep.

Maggie has been potty trained since Thanksgiving last year, but we were still using a pull up at bed time for just in case... and it was needed from time to time especially after bath nights.  Last weekend I mentioned to Mutti that I couldn't remember the last time Maggie's pull up had been wet in the morning.  Mutti couldn't recall either so with that Mutti decided it was time to stop putting on pull ups!  Well it has been a week and we have only had one incident and it was after bath night.   No more pull ups!

A girl and her pacis are a bond hard to break but with 4 just around the corner a chance we had to take!  Just like the pull ups, the paci break up was a bit spontaneous.  A while back we got Maggie a book called the Binky Fairy and we have been reading it to her sporadically.  Well in the book when you are ready to be a big kid you put your binkies in a red box for Bubbles the binky fairy to take away and give it to a newborn baby who needs it.

Well Saturday afternoon/evening we were in Target and came across a my little pony that had reward written all over it.  So we suggested to Maggie that if she give up her pacies to the paci fairy and made it through the night without them then she could have this pony... She was ALL about it.  She wanted to get that pony!!

She carried the pony in its box all around the house with her when we got home, which was allowed as long as she didn't open the box... Bedtime came and she realized what she had agreed to... so tears came and went and the pony reward ended up sleeping with her still in the box.   She had finally agreed to no paci as long as the pony stayed in bed with her and with the knowledge of knowing when the sun came up she could open it.

Well 515 am came and she was ready to open it... the sun was up!!!  So Mutti and Mommy helped her open her reward for making it through the night with NO Paci!!! The pony got played with for maybe 10 minutes but the rift had been made.  She had made it one night without a paci!

Sunday night was a little hard she wanted her paci and found the box we had put them in and looked for them and found they were gone... Bubbles had in fact taken them.  So she resigned herself to going to sleep without it but not without a melt down.

Monday Mutti brought her stickers for getting through her second night without the pacies which helped with Monday night's bedtime... she asked but knew the answer and didn't have a fit.

By Thursday she had stopped asking and randomly mentioning throughout the day that the pacies went in the box and there are no pacies.  She received a pink pencil box with holographic butterflies.

Now here we are at a full week with no pacies and no pull ups!

She is indeed our big girl!

Snip Snip ~ Sebastian's first hair cut!

Sebastian's hair is golden blonde with the slightest hint of red, it is beautiful especially the way the sun hits it when we are outside.

His hair is also slow to grow and fill in.... so there wasn't any reason to rush to get his hair trimmed.  We could have even held off longer but I thought that if we cut it, it would fill in better.

So hair cut day was turned into a family affair, I made an appointment for both the kids and Odie.... I stacked them pretty close but figured I wouldn't run into problems between dropping off Odie and getting to Trixie's cuts... but I started with one problem... running late... So I called both places and pushed the appointments 15 minutes... got to the dog place and realized I didn't bring my bag.  So I went in any way... They took Odie but had to call into his vet to verify he was up to date on shots... he was... and what I thought was going to be a quick drop off took at least 10 minutes.  We ended up being about a half an hour late but Trixie's was very understanding and got the kids cut and took payment over the phone since I didn't have my wallet.  Here are pictures of the kids:

Once the kids hair was all done we headed back to the house to get my wallet then back to petsmart to get Odie from his haircut!  Kind of a fiasco of a day but we got all our check offs on the list!

Easter Eggstravaganza!

Saturday was the Easter Eggstravaganza at Maggie's Preschool.  It was eggselant!  The kids and by kids I mean Maggie and us Moms were eggstatic!! Sebastian kept his opinion to himself.
They had quite the spread of sweets we opted to stck with strawberries and pirate booty to avoid a sugar crash later.  They had two crafts a Easter egg bag and bunny ears.  Maggie did her ears but didn't want to decorate her bag so I had the honors of making one set of ears and two bags.

The egg hunt was great each kid was allowed to take 8 eggs.  Maggie enjoyed the egg hunt but she enjoyed opening the eggs for the prizes more...Sebastian on the other hand could have hunted eggs all day.  He loved the process of picking them up and putting them in his bag.

Of course no Eggstravaganza would be complete without a visit from the easter bunny.  Which Maggie calls the Snow Bunny.  Both The kids were enamored by him. Well Sebastian was more paranoid yet curious.

The last part of the event was the raffle which we again took part in but came home empty handed.  The poster I made was for this event and I was proud of the finished product and I am hoping they will use it for years to come!

Car Seat Shuffle and Tooth number 7!

Tooth number 7 is poking through.  But not where I expected it. He still only has 2 on the bottom so I assumed that his next 2 teeth would be the 2 other front lowers but it is his 1 year molars...or molar on the right that has announced it's arrival.  Poor guy is chewing up a storm and even with pain reliever not sleeping the best.

Speaking of Sebastian growing...he
has outgrown the infant car seat so we had to choose between getting Maggie the next type of car seat which would include a booster seat or get Sebastian his own Convertible car seat.

Well Sebastian is getting another hand me down.   The barca lounger is now his! We got Maggie the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 complete with cup holder and storage cubbie which I am sure will be filled with all kinds of stickiness soon. This will be her seat until she reaches 100 lbs or some height I don't know right off hand.

Doing the swap is not as easy as it sounds... seat covers have to be washed...especially the barca lounger... I found all kinds of stuff in the base of it...money...a chestnut...hair ties... food.  Then strap adjustments have to be done.  And then install.

The infant seat doesn't expire until 2016 so I am giving it to a friend who is expecting twins in late fall.  You know they could use a spare car seat! This also serves as my official announcement that we are done.   No more birthing of babies.

This seat is too small!!
 See...too small indeed.
 This seat is too big!!!
This seat seems about right. ..
 Yep. Perfect.
"This is Maggie's seat baby brother!"-Maggie

12 Month Update~ Sebastian

FOOD:

We have quickly integrated what we eat into what you eat and supplemented with veggie/fruit pouches and nursing.

SLEEP:

Night: Bedtime for you starts around 8 you typically fall asleep between 830pm and 930pm.  You are usually up around 11/12 for a snack and then around 2/3 AM then you usually sleep until 730 or 8 in the morning.

Day: We are starting the one nap transition... some days you take 2 naps one around noon and one around 4ish.  But there are more days that you don't take your first nap until around 1 and you typically sleep for an hour and half some days more some days less.  Then that bumps your bedtime to 730pm.

MILESTONES:
You are walking!  You are also clapping and you have even pointed.  You have even starting to "dance" you bob your head and shake it left to right to music... you don't quite keep the rhythm  but you are moving and that is rhythm enough for me!

You are in the "putting things in things" phase... including anything you can get your hands on into the toilet.  Of course I have only had to pull out items twice before blocking you from toilet access all together (which is difficult since your sister is new to the potty and needs quick access).

WHAT'S FUNNY:

The dogs are funny and getting tickled is also OH SO Funny!

YOUR FAVORITE TOY:

You really seem to gravitate towards cars and blocks and anything you can bang on a hard surface.  As much as we enjoy watching you with the matchbox cars we have set them out of reach so you don't choke on them so you will have to wait a little longer before you get to enjoy them.

CLOTHES SIZE:

You can still wear most 12 month pants and shirts but not for long the onesies are getting hard to button and are now transitioning into 12-18 month clothes!  But it seems we will have the same issues we had with Maggie where you will need to fill in those clothes a bit... I am still bothered at the fact they don't do a 12-15 month size....

HAIR COLOR:

Your hair is really starting to grow in.. but it is more blonde than strawberry blonde.

EYE COLOR:

They are BLUE!!
